Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu claimed responsibility for an airstrike in Northern Iraq today in response to an explosion in Ankara, Turkey that killed 28 people and injured 61 yesterday. The attacker, Saleh Najar, had ties to YPG, a Kurdish separatist group, which has been associated with PKK, another Kurdish organization previously declared a terrorist group by the United States and Turkey. However, Turkey has been verbally critical of the United States’ support of YPG in response to its war against ISIS. Both the explosions and airstrikes are examples of the turmoil and complexity of current situation in the Middle East.
