11 million documents have been leaked by the Panama Papers accusing dozens of the most powerful people around the world of using offshore accounts to avoid taxes and sanctions, and laundering money. The sources come from leaked documents of the law firm, Mossack Fonseca. About 140 politicians from over 50 countries have been accused. Some of these people include associates of President Vladimir Putin. The documents claim that Putin’s associates have channeled up to $2 billion dollars in these offshore accounts. Other leaders, both current and former, are from the Ukraine, Saudi Arabia, Argentina, Iceland, Georgia, Qatar, and Iraq. According to BBC, family and associates of Bashar Assad, Moammar Gadhafi, and Hosni Mubarak were included in the leak. The leak follows a year long investigation by over 370 journalists from 107 news organizations.
